Canning Chicken Broth — Using a Pressure Canner

Canning Chicken Broth — Using a Pressure Canner

By August 18, 2012

I am trying to find more ways to put up and save food. For one I am running out of freezer space since I only have small deep freeze in addition to my refrigerator freezer. Also with all the natural disasters we have seen lately you never know when you are not going to be able to get the to store or when you will be without power which in my case would mean I would be trying to keep freezers cold etc. Stocking up is also a good way to insure that you family has food if you have a loss of income. So While I had access to a pressure canner I put up some chicken broth and will be making more. This also saves me a lot of money since I use so much chicken broth when I cook.

  • Prep Time : 10 minutes
  • Cook Time : 25 minutes

Ingredients

Instructions

  • I started with my own Chicken Broth, I do mine like THIS in the slow cooker, and I even pulled some out of the freezer from the last batch I made. While your jars heat up bring your broth to a boil in a large pot.
  • Once everything is hot pour your broth into you hot jars, and place the lids and rings on the jars. Then process in the pressure canner at 10 pounds of pressure for 20 minutes for pints and 25 minutes for quarts.
