We made these last year with my son’s class but they would be really cute to put on packages for Grandparents etc. Just start with a small piece of wood, smaller than these are cuter, you can find them in craft stores. Then the head is made with a brown thumbprint, then let the child add the nose, eyes, and antlers. Then we just hot glued a ribbon on the back to be able to hang it on the tree. Make sure to have the child write their name on the back with the year.
