Green Onions – Planting the white ends

I had seen on pinterest telling you to put the white ends of green onions in a cup but couldn’t remember exactly what you were supposed to do and hadn’t repinned the pin. I had a bunch of green onions I forgot to use and so I decided to cut off the white ends and plant them in a little herb basket I have hanging from my deck just to see if they would do anything.

March 19th – they are starting to sprout up. I had only watered them a few times.

April 2nd- ready to be used!!! I hadn’t watered them since the last picture because we have had lots of rain and they seemed to be growing good.

I was so excited to see that this worked. This is something that I never remember to buy when I need it and then when I buy them to keep on hand I forget to use them. I will never through away the white ends again. This is a great way to always have them on hand!!!
