Today is National Cake Decorating Day, We are no experts in this area but we have shared several of our kids birthday parties and cakes on this blog. I Wrote about my Son’s first 5 birthdays HERE.
With this CAKE an obsession for birthday cakes were born. I had ordered a cake from a lady that was recommended to me. Luckily my husband went to pick up the cake the day before the party because when I saw it I CRIED. It was SO bad and to the trash it went, I did not even get a picture of it. The grocery store in our town was able to at least make a cake that fit the theme. BUT after that I put the cake at the TOP of my party list.
For birthday number 2 we did all things to do with balls. The cake was a baseball and cupcakes were footballs and basketballs. I LOVED this cake and cupcakes and they were really easy to make too with the right molds.
For our guy’s 3rd birthday we had another farm party. He was in love with all animals and his Daddy was building him a big play barn in the back yard so the theme was a farm/barn party.
I did not make this cake for his 4th birthday since I was going to have a house full of company, but trusted the lady that made it and it turned out GREAT.
For Birthday number 5 we had a carnival and my son saw popcorn cupcakes somewhere and had to have them and they ware SO EASY. I ordered the stripped wraps from ETSY.
For his 6th birthday we did not have BIG party and I really did not want to spend hours on a great cake so we baked cupcakes and made butter cream icing and let the kids ice and decorate their own, just supplied bowls of icing and sprinkles and gummies, then rolled the paper table cloth up and tossed when we were done.
I think they enjoyed it, I also just got pre packaged ice cream so there was NO dishes to clean up etc.
Amber has had some fun cakes too. Like this one from this summer for a Mario Kart Party. My son LOVED this cake when he saw it, I thought this cake may make him change his theme this year.
The same lady who made the Mario Kart cake also made the cakes for her daughter’s birthdays. Her 1st birthday she had a princess cake! They loved the little smash cake that matched the big cake. The fondant crown was a wonderful touch and not sure if you can see but on the bottom layer there is a little wand with a fondant star laying across it.
For her second birthday they had an Elmo party but had to make sure the cake was pink! Her daughter is super girly and loves pink.
Here are Lots of Toy Story Cupcakes, Amber also had lots of cute cookies for this party too, One type was not enough for this party she made something different for each character.
And here are a couple more ideas. My Husband DOES NOT like Cake so for his birthday we get creative, he does LOVE rice crispy treats so that is what his “cake”is normally made of, my son decorated this one last year.
Last Year for my son’s actual birthday Amber and her kids where visiting and with all our food allergies cakes are hard so we used Gluten Free fruity pebbles to make a cake.
