Every Few months I take a few minutes to mix up some of our favorite seasoning mixes. Since my son is Gluten Free this way I know that he is not getting any gluten in the seasoning and none of us is getting any MSG which we all try to avoid. This year I think I may make a couple of these to add to some kitchen themed baskets. Click on the Large titles below to go to the recipe for each mix.
I kept seeing Red Robin seasoning mixes on Pinterest and thought I would like to have a seasoning for burgers and fries but they all had tomato powder in them so after a couple batches I came up with a mix that is perfect for us. I mix it in to my ground beef when making burgers, sprinkle it over fries and roasted potatoes, we even enjoy it on our popcorn. Every time I use it for company they ask for the recipe you will WANT THIS MIX in our pantry.
The link has both Amber and My versions which are a bit different, so you can see how you can make this fit your family’s tastes. I put this ON EVERYTHING, meat, rice, vegetables EVERYTHING. Once you get your proportions right it is nice to just pick up one bottle instead of 2 or 3 every time you fix a dish. (Mine is shown in a old maple syrup bottle)
My husband and father actually came up with this mix last Christmas. We had some red fish to grill and they wanted to blacken it after looking up several recipes and seeing what we had on hand (since it was Christmas stores were not open) they mixed this up and we have been making it and using it ever since. This is GREAT on FISH and CHICKEN.
This mix I don’t use too often but it is good sprinkled over some olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip a crusty bread in.
This was the first mix I started making on my own since we have tacos or nachos weekly at my house and most all taco mixes have gluten in them.
I really enjoy this seasoning on chicken and onion and peppers for our favorite nachos and fajita seasoning is another mix that has gluten and lots of MSG in it so I really prefer to make my own.
I mixed all 6 of these up in just a few minutes and will enjoy them for a few months (except the house seasoning I make that every couple weeks).
